Light Crabapple Blossoms: Framed Plein Air Color Match Illusion
DESCRIPTION
If you love the fresh colors of springtime, this illusion painting of a blossoming crabapple is perfect for your fine art collection. This painting has been varnished and has been framed in an archival frame specially made for it. A certificate of authenticity is included.
Engaging Art Process Videos: The illusion process videos were posted on social media on June 4th, 2024. Scroll down to see the full process video as well as a brief process lapse. Additional shortform content is available on my social media channels.
Environmental Responsibility: I prioritize environmentally responsible artmaking practices, ensuring the optimization of materials and minimal waste during the creation of this piece.
The Location and Crab Apple Trees: This painting was created at a boat launch and botanical garden in North Tonawanda, NY in April of 2024. The launch is on the historic Erie Canal. The crab apple trees are at their peak bloom for only a few short weeks of the year, so I prioritized painting as many flowering trees as I could during 2024’s spring. Crabapple trees have been treasured throughout history; they’ve been considered to banish evil while also representing love and wisdom.
Key Features:
Original varnished plein air illusion oil painting
Acid-free fine art Bristol board, triple gessoed
Frame: 6.5 x 5 x 1 inches. Painting: 3.25 x 2.25 inches
Custom black frame with acid-free double matting
Mounted with archival, acid-free methods that protect the original artwork; can be reframed in the future
Ready to display. Hanging hardware and wire pre-installed
Museum glass (virtually invisible) for optimal viewing and UV protection
Certificate of authenticity included
Geolocation of painting site and facts included about crabapple trees and North Tonawanda
