Woodline, Tillman Wildlife Management Area: Framed Plein Air Color Match Illusion
DESCRIPTION
If you love New York’s toasty shift from summer to autumn, this painting is perfect for your fine art collection. I ventured through the Tillman Wildlife Management Area to capture the woodline, blending my painting nearly seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The painting has been archivally framed for ideal display and lasting preservation. A certificate of authenticity and additional info about the location are included.
Engaging Art Process Videos: The illusion process was posted on social media on January 8th, 2025. Scroll down to see the full process video as well as a brief process lapse. View additional shortform content on my social media channels.
Environmental Responsibility: I prioritize environmentally responsible artmaking practices, ensuring the optimization of materials and minimal waste during the creation of this piece.
Tillman Wildlife Management Area: I chose Tillman Road Wildlife Management Area in Clarence, NY, as an undisturbed spot to study trees and foliage. I make it a point to observe the trees during seasonal shifts, as painting them from life is a rare opportunity. The area spans 235 acres of diverse habitats, including hardwood forests and wetlands. When you visit, you’re likely to encounter wildlife such as turtles, frogs, birds, and deer. I value this location for providing an important shelter for both wildlife and native plants.
Key Features:
Original varnished plein air illusion oil painting
Acid-free fine art Bristol board, triple gessoed
Frame: 6.5 x 5 x 1 inches. Painting: 3.25 x 2.25 inches
Custom-created black frame with acid-free double matting
Mounted with archival, acid-free methods that protect the original artwork; can be reframed in the future
Ready to display. Hanging wire pre-installed
