Mission and Process
My values and life experiences have guided me to create art inspired by nature, using environmentally responsible methods. Read on to discover how these influences shaped my commitment to sustainability.
My Mission
Nature has always been my sanctuary—a place of peace and reflection. From a young age, I explored the outdoors, climbing trees barefoot and picking wild fruit.
As I grew older, I realized the impact of human activity on the environment. A defining moment was witnessing beloved wild orchards burned to make way for housing developments—displacing hundreds of animals. This ignited in me a deep commitment to protect the Earth.
Adopting a minimalist lifestyle based on sustainability, I embrace vegetarianism, reduce waste, and repurpose materials and furniture in my home and studio. Through my art, I celebrate nature and raise awareness about environmental challenges, with a focus on the natural treasures of Western New York.
My Process
Sustainability shapes my creative process. I choose oil paint for its longevity and color retention, ensuring that my work lasts for generations. I use only what I need, storing my palette with special techniques that make the paint reusable for months.
I also use solvent-free painting and cleaning methods to prevent harmful chemicals from entering our water systems. Any leftover paint is responsibly brought to a special facility that adheres to strict environmental regulations, neutralizing the chemicals before disposing of them.
In my studio, I care for my tools—many are over a decade old—keeping my workspace clean and organized. I avoid the mess and waste typically associated with painting.
Sustainability also guides my framing and shipping process. I use archival framing methods to preserve and protect each piece, which protects the artwork for years to come. For shipping, I opt for durable recyclable materials made from post-consumer content, carefully layered to provide maximum protection during shipping. This ensures your artwork arrives in top condition while minimizing waste.
