"Joy and Peace" Cardinal Ornament: Miniature Oil Painting on Birch Round
DESCRIPTION
This handcrafted, hand-painted ornament features a plucky cardinal amid woodland thicket. It perches on a birch branch and looks at you curiously, as if you’ve run into each other in the forest. Backlit, there’s a beautiful white highlight around the edge of the cardinal.
I painted the cardinal in shades of bright red, crimson, purples, blacks, and white highlights. The birch branch is in soft taupe and browns. The blurry blue in the background suggests sky peeping through the thicket.
This is vibrant and warm woodland painting to add to your art collection. It also makes an excellent gift to any bird lover or nature lover.
DETAILS:
Oil paint and high-gloss varnish.
Triple-gessoed, sanded, birch round.
Gold-colored ornament string.
1.4 inches diameter by 0.4 thickness.
Certificate of authenticity included.
Comes in a black velvet box tied with a ribbon.
CARDINALS:
Cardinals are a well-loved, popular bird that offer a bright pop of color in the wintertime. They symbolize warmth, hope, and joy, especially during Christmastime. Seeing vibrant cardinals and hearing their pleasant songs encourages us through cold seasons.
Northern cardinals are associated with a great deal of folklore, legends, and spiritual beliefs in many different cultures. (Source: Farmers Almanac.) It is common folklore that a visit from a cardinal represents a sign from a loved one who has passed.
Cardinals are often associated with romance, and it is believed that if you are single and see a cardinal, romance is in your near future. Cardinals are largely monogamous, and a male cardinal will bring food to his mate while she sits on the nest, offering it to her in a gentle, kiss-like gesture. Cardinals also remain together as dedicated pairs throughout the year, unlike many songbirds that split up after the mating season.
COLOR MATCH QUEEN:
I’m known as the Color Match Queen of social media because I have the skill of mimicking colors realistically with my paint.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
I pursue high-efficiency, low-waste art making methods because I care about the environment.
