THE PROCESS:

On a hazy winter day, I embarked on a journey to East Aurora, chasing the elusive interplay of light and nature. A herd of deer gracefully roamed the fields as I painted, and I worked with unwavering focus, racing against the falling snow to protect both my equipment and the painting. The result was a masterpiece that justified the long drive and the rapid painting session.

EAST AURORA OVERLOOK:
Ideally located along the WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway, the Mill Road Scenic Overlook is one of the most picturesque locations in our region. (Source: Western New York Land Conservancy.) The Land Conservancy holds a conservation easement on the property, and the overlook is one of Aurora’s most important natural areas. It includes 18 acres of mature forest with a dense hemlock grove, an intermittent stream, a sedge marsh, and 30 acres of open meadow that support rare grassland bird species including nesting populations of bobolinks.
