Framed Plein Air Color Match Illusion: Buckhorn Island State Park

DESCRIPTION

This is a framed plein air illusion of Buckhorn Island State Park, which I painted on site. I blocked out a portion of the landscape and painted everything that was missing. I posted the illusion on social media (see the full video here) on May 31st, 2023.

DEPICTION:
It was early summer when I painted this. The grass was lively and budding. I love the soft greens and the little flicks of white paint that indicate seed pods.

BUCKHORN STATE PARK:

Buckhorn Island State Park nature preserve is 895 acres of marsh, meadows and woods and the last vestige of once vast marshlands and meadows that bordered the Niagara River. (Source: New York State Parks.) Ongoing restoration continues to re-establish wetland cover and water levels and increase the diversity of native flora and fauna.

DETAILS:

Triple gessoed. Oil paint and varnish. Painting itself is nearly 2x3 inches. Wood frame is 4.75 x 3.75 inches. Certificate of authenticity included.
