Framed Plein Air Color Match Illusion: Beaver Island Pond in Springtime
DESCRIPTIONThis is a framed plein air illusion of the pond at Beaver Island State Park, which I painted on site. I blocked out a portion of the water and land and painted everything that was missing. I posted the illusion on social media on (see the full video here).
DEPICTION:
I painted this in springtime, and the light changed on me several times. This meant that I had to be loose and fast in order to capture the scene before the light would change again.
BEAVER ISLAND:
Beaver Island State Park opened in 1935. It was formed of several estates donated by Buffalo’s elite. Beaver Island is located on Grand Island, New York, conveniently located between Niagara Falls and Buffalo. The park is beautiful in all seasons and features bird watching areas, fishing, kayaking, a beach for swimming, sledding in wintertime, and more.

DETAILS:
Triple gessoed. Oil paint and varnish. Painting itself is nearly 2x3 inches. Frame is about 4.75 x 3.75 inches. Certificate of authenticity included.
