Letchworth Upper Falls: Oil Painting on Flagstone

$295.00

This is a painting of the Upper Falls at Letchworth State Park on a flagstone. The waterfall tumbles over the rocks, surrounded by trees in their best autumn colors.

This painting was inspired by autumn trips to Letchworth I’ve taken, including the color matches on October 09th 2022 (posted on TikTok).

Letchworth has an abundance of flagstone, and I gathered this piece of flagstone from there. My favorite part is the edges of this painting, because the painting covers the layered edges of the flagstone.

USES:

This landscape on flagstone is a one-of-a-kind original piece of art. If you like unusual art and want to have the only one like it, this piece is for you. If you love nature, autumn, or waterfalls, this painted flagstone would complement your art collection perfectly.

This rests beautifully on a desk or tabletop, and has felt pads on bottom to protect the surface of your desk. It would be great in a work space or anywhere. It could even be used as a paperweight. Putting nature art in a workspace can have a positive, calming effect, which facilitates clear thinking and productivity.

DETAILS:

5.5 x 4 x 0.5 inches.
Oil paint and glossy coating.
Triple gessoed Letchworth flagstone.
Bottom of flagstone is signed and has felt pads.

UPPER FALLS AT LETCHWORTH STATE PARK:

Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. (Source: U.S. Parks and Recreation.) The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests.

In this painting is the Genesee Arch Bridge. This bridge has taken the place of other train bridges that preceded it, the earliest of which dates back to 1852. The earliest bridge above the Upper Falls was once the tallest, longest wooden bridge in the world. (Source: Glimpses of the Past by Tom Cook.)

COLOR MATCH QUEEN:

I’m known as the Color Match Queen of social media because I have the skill of mimicking colors realistically with my paint.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

I pursue high-efficiency, low waste art making methods because I care about the environment. My methods include frequently using found objects as “canvases,” such as rocks or sea glass.
