DESCRIPTION

This is a framed oil painted coin of the Grand Canyon, Arizona, at sunrise, with a saguaro cactus in the foreground.

In this painting, the sun is white on the horizon, and spreads a yellow glow toward the blue sky. The clouds are a colorful array of oranges and purples.

The canyon spreads far into the distance: reds and browns up close, then fading into purple because of atmospheric perspective.

In the foreground, the saguaro cactus stands tall with tree-like limbs. Nestled beside it are a potpourri of cacti flowering in red, yellow, and white.

The coin has been mounted on acid-free mat board and framed. The frame is free-standing and can rest on any surface such as a desktop, tabletop, or mantle.

GRAND CANYON:

Located on ancestral homeland of 11 Associated Tribes, Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world—unmatched in the incomparable vistas it offers visitors from the rims.

SAGUARO:

The saguaro (suh-waa-row) cactus has been an iconic symbol of the American southwest for ages. These majestic beings are easily recognized by their size and structure, sometimes reaching a height of 50 feet tall. The saguaro only grows in the Sonoran Desert, which is a few hours drive from the Grand Canyon. In this painting, the saguaro and the Grand Canyon are imagined in the same view, both things iconic of Arizona.
