Akron Falls Creek in Autumn: Framed Original Oil Painting

DESCRIPTION

This is a custom-framed oil painting of the creek at Akron Falls, New York, in autumn. This is a place I visited in autumn with my partner, and I gathered reference images while we looked for salamanders under the rocks.

This scene takes place on the creek that stems from the waterfall. I captured the fine details of the scene and carefully matched the colors realistically in the painting.

This is early autumn, so some of the painting’s trees are still green while others have already turned yellow. The creek reflects the blue sky and leaves. Your eye will wander into the distance of the painting, following the creek. The dark rocks are delicately covered in mosses of yellow, green, and brown. Fallen leaves linger upon the rocks and water.

Painting made with wood panel, gesso, oil paint, and varnish.
Frame made by me with basswood, stain, and semi-gloss varnish.
Frame has wire on back for easy hanging.
Signed on painting and on back of frame.

DIMENSIONS:

Artwork area is 7 x 5 inches.
Frame is 8 x 6 inches. Frame depth is 1/2 inch.

AKRON FALLS:

When you take a ride to Akron Falls, you’ll take notice of the lush moss, ferns, and dense forest that surround the cliffs. (Source: Erie County Parks Department.) Here you can breath the mystical breeze as the water cascades over the falls especially in the fall season. Down stream along the lake, you can spot many types of birds, plants, and animals that have made the park their home: great blue herons, eastern screech owls, basswood, eastern cottonwood, white-tailed deer, raccoons, and more.
