Subject and Process: This painting showcases the view of Ontario, as seen from Buffalo’s Outer Harbor on Lake Erie. This particular spot was known for its strong winds, which presented various challenges during the painting process. Despite this, the view remained nostalgic and inspiring, motivating me to push through the difficulties and complete the work.

Outer Harbor: The Outer Harbor, a major industrial hub in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was central to Buffalo’s shipping and steel production. Although significant cleanup has taken place, traces of past pollution still linger. Today, it’s a lively spot for recreation, with walking paths, birdwatching, and boat traffic from fishing and recreational vessels. The transformation of this space can be a hopeful reminder to keep moving onward toward a cleaner future, blending its industrial legacy with the natural spaces that many of us wish to see flourish here.
