Adirondacks Oil Painting on Autumn Maple Leaf

from $180.00
Sold Out

This is an autumn oil painting of the Adirondack Mountains on a maple leaf. I wanted to show the glorious colors of changing trees on an actual autumn leaf.

The leaf is from a Western New York silver maple tree. It was a beautiful dark red when I picked and pressed it. I properly dried the leaf for one year before painting it.

DETAILS:

Leaf is 3.75 x 5 inches (including stem).
Oil paint and glossy varnish over triple gessoed leaf.
Comes framed or unframed, depending on your preference.

Option 1, FRAMED:

Black gallery frame.
1.25 inch MDF moulding.
8x10 inches, matted to 5x7.
Double white matting.
Thick layer of glass to protect painting.
Hanging hardware is pre-attached.
Has fold-out easel attached to frame backing.
Can be hung on wall by hardware on back.

Option 2, UNFRAMED:

You may choose to purchase this unframed and optionally frame it yourself as you see fit. I’ll ensure it arrives safely to you by packaging it protectively in a watertight, sturdy container, since it won’t be in a frame.

ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS:

The Adirondack Mountains in northeastern New York state, U.S., extend southward from the St. Lawrence River valley and Lake Champlain to the Mohawk River valley. (Source: Brittanica.) The mountains are only sparsely settled, and much of the area exists in a primitive natural state, protected by state law.

The Adirondacks region is made up of hundreds of peaks and foothills, with more than 40 summits higher than 4,000 feet.

The Adirondack Mountains are covered with spruce, hemlock, and pine forests interspersed with hardwoods on the lower slopes; white-tailed deer and black bear are the largest species of wildlife.

The action of retreating glaciers during the last Pleistocene Ice Age left the area covered by glacial till (intermingled clay, sand, gravel, and boulders) and created the many spectacular gorges, waterfalls, lakes, ponds, and swamps for which the region is noted.
